Happy Mothers Day everyone!!!
Let's spend the day at a hockey tournament!!!! 😑
Yes... It was the In2 hockey tournament at Ratcliffe college hosted by L.R.H.A.
As coaches arrived before 9am the parents duely followed..
We were able to enter 4 teams today through the ages for this very competitive tournament.
U10boys/mixed
In our smallest group the U10s we had to recruit 2 girls in. But Charnwood are all about girl power as they bolstered the strength of the boys team. Four close games saw us not manage to get three points but the majority of the games were really close and we were soo unlucky at times. The experience is one that will only help them in the long run.
U12 girls
We saw them go toe to toe with some stiff competition.
This was a real test for the girls as they took a huge step up against some big looking teams as we looked quite young on comparison.
They played as ever with the most incredible determination and positivity. A debut for our GK who at the raw age of 10 showed zero fear at any point shows what a bright future she has!
The girls won 2 and lost 2 and were narrowly edged out from qualifying, but will no doubt give them experience for next year!
U12B team
It was never going to be an easy day for them. We had so many kids wanting to play so a chance to expose them to high level challenge was taken. They were without a doubt the youngest team there.
They had some real rough games but the coaching team tried to keep their heads up, which was challenging.
But massive credit to them as they kept going. They played some amazing passages of play at times and indicator of what is to come. Every single one of them wore the shirt with pride today and no team received more encouragement.
We could not be prouder of you.
U12A Team
As is to be the way with Charnwood the first game saw us start slowly and narrowly lose out on the points.
Two more wins in the next two games then a long gap before our next game, our friends at Westleigh... Nothing friendly about the game though as we had chance after chance but couldn't hit the backboard. Against the run of play Westleigh took the lead with a great top D strike, however with the last play of the game we equalised.
Our last game was against Charnwood B and not what we'd want to end the day with but the boys needed goals to qualify. Mixed emotions for the coaches as they achieved that.
However due to all the games from the day the determination of the team saw us qualify for regional finals for the third straight year, a feat we're really proud of, showing how bright the future is for he club and absolute testament to all of the Junior section team who are incredible and give their time up volunteering for the club 🐿️ 💚
